“Under a Moonlight Sky” was the theme for the EdVenture group of the Gore Range Natural Science School recently. About 40 guests met at the home of Kris and John Sims in Cordillera for the quarterly program. After dinner, Ann Stephenson, community programs director for the school, gave the group a lesson in Astronomy 101 and what they might be able to see under the crystal-clear spring skies. After the tutorial, the patrons headed out for an hour-long snowshoe under the waxing moon.

The EdVenture program of Gore Range Natural Science School is a way to donate $1,000 or more to the school. Several times a year, the school hosts an educational way to say thank you to the donors who make such contributions.

“It’s a way to connect to nature and to further understand scientific concepts,” Stephenson said.

For more information volunteering or donating to the school, visit www.gorerange.org or call (970) 827-9725.

Brenda Himmelfarb informed me that the annual Breast Cancer Awareness luncheon this year is going to be a “must-attend.” Last year was fabulous with writer Linda Ellerbee as the keynote speaker. This year, Dr. Susan Love is slated for the event. She’s a breast cancer expert and author, having written the best sellers “Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book” and “Dr. Susan Love’s Hormone Book.” Stay tuned for more information.
